The summit of Hirschenkogel - Your front row seat to the Sun
On top of the magic mountain in 1,350 meters above sea level, your front row seat to the sun could be located! The plateau of Hirschenkogel is easily reached by cable car in 7 minutes. If you want to explore the mountain by foot, pack your hiking boots and you will reach the top in around an hour.
Dr. Erwin Proell Millenium observatory
The highest point is the Dr. Erwin Proell Millennium observatory, which was built on the border between Lower Austria and Styria in1999.
155 steps lead up to the 30 meter high viewing platform, with a foundation size of 150 m². The tower structure was built from 104 m³ larch wood in glulam construction and anchored with four steel brackets to the concrete foundation.
From the control room offers a magnificent view over the mountain landscape of the Fischbacher Alps Rax and Schneeberg, the viaducts of the Semmering Railway to in the Vienna Basin.
