The mountain shakes – Zauberberg Semmering in race fever
The first Ski World Cup Race here at Semmering took place in December 1995. What was a thrilling experiment for all participants back in the day, became a successfull World Cup location for Women World Cup Circus. Already both Women races – two slaloms on 29th and 30th December 1995 – were a sensational success with the number of spectators that by that time was never on a
Womens World Cups race achieved. Both days saw more than 10.000 visitors and Hirschenkogel Semmering became the Zauberberg (magic mountain).
Since then 10 World Cups took place. In the years 1995 and 1996 two slaloms took place on the western slope. Throughout the building of the Panoramapiste the races took place bi-yearly. Afterwards giant slalom and night slalom were added.
Most of all, the night slalom showed some impressive pictures from Zauberberg to the whole world, and is for the TV viewers and of course spectators on the slopes and most of all for the racers an unforgettable experience in a sensational atmosphere.
